Looks like Akon is taking over Nate Dogg’s gig of hip hop’s go-to R&B guy. Besides his platinum solo success, he’s collaborated with everyone from Jadakiss and Eminem, to most recently Gwen Stefani and now DJ Khaled’s “We Takin Over.” Could he even be moving in on R. Kelly’s territory? “Don’t Matter” borrows liberally from Kels’ “Ignition…”
and the R Kelly original, just for a throwback…
Trust, if there is a moment when we don’t hear Akon’s voice on-air, we may just be hearing one of his new artists, since he’s also stepping out as label executive and has officially penned his first signing, called Brick and Lace.
