News spread fast about Lil Wayne signing up with Kanye West’s management team, known as “Hip Hop Since 1978.” Said management/production group will work alongside Weezy’s everyday manager, Cortez Bryant, to take all of Lil Wayne’s music to the next level. Unlike the former albums released under Tha Carter moniker, production and guest appearances will abound on Tha Carter 3. Some of the producers being associated with the project are still on the hush hush, but what we can predict, is that Tha Carter may very well be an instant classic, and certainly one of the most anticipated hip hop albums of 2007.
Up next for Lil Wayne, is the remix he’s doing to “Beautiful Liar” featuring Beyonce and Shakira, which is a nice follow-up to the look he struck on “Soldier” a while back…
Also look out for new fashion alliances for Lil Weezy, and a whole boat load of TV/commercial and film projects moving forward.
Last but not least in the path of mainstream magic, is the cameo he will have on the upcoming Enrique Iglesias video shoot….apparently Enrique’s video will be the FIRST EVER to be shot in 3-D…so watch out. Lil Wayne is really coming at ya!

Chris Rock has been a favorite of ours forever. Who for example, could forget the year he hosted the VMA’s? We’re still not sure Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have forgiven him for ripping apart their relationship…and wasn’t that also the year he said Beyonce’s weave looked like Sea Biscuit or some such thing? I mean, you gotta be at the top of your game to be worthy of insulting musicians at the top of theirs…so when his latest flick was set to release and even featured the kooky Steve Buschemi in the mix, we had high expectations. We interviewed Chris on mtv.com too, and got his take on this latest project. Unfortunately, “I Think I Love My Wife” feels a little stale, compared to the kind of standup comedy we’ve come to expect from the man…scripted flicks seem to work about as well for him, as music videos do (case in point: “No Sex in the Champagne Room”) Chris needs to focus on the angry, raw, and often times political schtick he does so well, such as in this SNL clip from the other night…

The UK has officially denied Snoop access into the country, despite all applications and pleas by the Snoop/Diddy Tour. And the news came as a bit of a shock since Snoop applied for the permits months (not weeks) prior to the European leg of their concerts….given, Snoop may not have the most stellar record when it comes to crimes and misdemeanors…in the past. AND yes, he’s been stopped recently, for possession of the sticky icky which he’s clearly not giving up anytime soon….nor is he selling nor making a business out of…SO - while Snoop may not be the BEST example of all US citizens, he’s certainly come a long way from where he’s been. And as a product of the East Coast/West Coast drama days of hip-hop, which witnessed the tragic loss of Pac and Biggie, Snoop has since changed his entire life. Snoop’s commented formally by saying, “I can’t control my drugs and gang-banging past . People can see that I now have a diferrent identity and that I’ve changed my lifestyle around completely. We let the Beatles in the USA so please let me in here.” He gave an exclusive interview to MTV UK
But the question remains, does the past have to influence the future? We stand by the ideals of rehabilitation, at least in the US. And at least in theory. If you do the crime and the time, then we ought to be able to look forward to some growth, vindication and success…to ideally be better versions of our former selves, which Snoop clearly is. He wants to bring positivity to youth and set a good example that is anti-violence for this generation of hip hop fans worldwide. so why is the UK government REALLY banning Snoop from being there, if he’s clearly not a threat? Is hip-hop just a target…? As it stands now, Snoop will rejoin the tour in Ireland, who has welcomed the Doggfather into their country. Cheers to that.
In related news, Diddy is business (aka partying) as usual…he spent his free time in the UK, chilling with soccer royalty (British footballer) David Beckham and wifey Posh Spice since the tour was put on pause instead of play

He may pop in and out of focus, but it’s nice to see Rakim coming through for special tracks every now and then. This latest video is an instant “classic,” paying respect to the fundamentals of hiphop…turntables, graffiti and classic kicks!!! Enjoy Kanye West, Nas, Rakim KRS 1 and with DJ Premier on the 1’s and 2’s. Rakim’s “flow stays submerged in the fountain of youth…”
