Yesterday, some folks in the building checked out Columbia records newest signing, Yelawulf. A country bumpkin/skater dude hailing from Alabama, he rocks trucker hats and grillz and sounds kinda like Eminem with a serious drawl. He’s shooting his first video next month for his single ‘Kickin’, and we’re sure we’ll be hearing more from this good ol’ boy soon…

I don’t get the eminem comparison, other than dude is white and there is only one other white dude to compare him to. But that being said the song on his myspace is dope! It actually sounds like hip hop. It’s a rapper who can actually rap, not like all the other crap that drug dealers/ballers are pushing on me. He actually said “it ain’t snap music, but you can lean back and throw it up”, funny.
Play that funky music whiteboy. and please don’t be a fluke after all this s#!t i just typed.
And please, please, please…if you MTV people are gonna be writers, be writers and research…. i did. I played Em after I listened to dude….they sound nothin alike. “Sounds kinda like Eminem with a serious drawl” is like sayin “sounds like Rakim but in Arabic”.

This is not an eminem thing its a hiphop thing. This cat is dope and due! I’ve heard a lot of his music he represents the culture with his culture. Is’nt that hip hop? Broke ass middle class America can relate cause WE definatley aint Ballin!

All I have to say is he’s official. It’s not a gimmick, “The White Boy from Alabama” is HiP-HoP in the true tradition of it. With a southern perspective that is enjoyable to listen to with an Outta the box offering Reminiscent of a 1990’s era Outkast sprinkled with some ghetto, trailer trash, DEF Jam era Bestie Boyz. Now add to that image a dusted out brick city state of mind Red Man on some Unabomber blow up your building shit.

Hey this cat is the truth his music is great and he is real I was at the vide4o shoot and I must admit I respect wolf for his talent. As for him and Em I would love to here that duet on a Rick Rubin track sick . The world needs to get ready for the YELLA WOLF invasion cause its coming soon this is just another reason for people in the south to be proud period. Dude gets love in his home town like nothing I have seen before from the hood to the trailer parks. The only thing about EM and WOLF that are similar is that they are real mcs with a deep story to tell. Peace

Look…If ya’ll don’t know schitt, you need to know this. This dude is real, as in “The Truth”, not as in that played out phrase “keepin it real”! Wolf’ll rap circles around the majority of the whole rap game. The main thing I realized when I first got to know him, and first started producin for him is that, HE AIN’T TRYIN TO BE SOMETHIN HE’S NOT.. And he ain’t tryin to prove schitt, neither.
He’s a true ‘artist’, from the definition of the word.. And he’s gonna be around for a loooong fokkin time..

I think it’s funny to read “sounds kinda like Eminem with a serious drawl”. I’m just shocked that in the listening that y’all received of Wolf’s material that’s the best line you all could come up with. There are some people that have replied on here that have heard a much larger body of Wolf’s material i.e. WillPower, Skape and HeadROC so if you do nothing else please bookmark this page so the people that wrote this column can come back in a few months and know that when we say Wolf is the future we mean it….
For any true hip hop head out there you can all remember that when certain artists first came out they generated a certain “buzz” and you knew that they were gonna be special.
The first time I heard Nasty Nas on “Back To The Grill” Pac on “Same Song”, Biggie’s “Party And Bullshit” or even Em for that matter with “Just Don’t Give a Fuck”.
Now before everyone reads this and get’s there panties all in a bunch, no, I’m not trying to compare Wolf to these artists because Wolf is bringing something entirely different to the plate. What I am saying is that “something special” that made those artists stand out is the same quality that Wolf posesses. The future is now!

Yelawolf…aka..catfish billy…What couldn’t I say. This is someone I remember working so hard and constantly staying true to his committment to be seen and heard as a genuine artist. It makes me proud to finally see when hard work pays off. Most artist will try to get into the “game” and see how hard it is and give up because they get side tracked, or let down or just gave up…but being a dedicated artist and knowing your talent and what you have to offer…you keep pushing until the world finally recognizes your talent. It starts with the passion first. If you don’t have the passion for it, you might as well stop while your at it. My motto has always been…”respect the grind…anti 9-5″ . Hey I look at it like this. I’m wit trascend on the eminem comment. He sounds nothing like eminem to me, its only just theres one other white rapper that hit a advance level of rapping were he found his true voice and talked about the his view of thing. Yela wolf is just one more of those rappers like eminem who keeps it real on a similar level but far as any features his style resembles nothing of him to me. He is a sick ass rapper and he is from a place that i know is a struggle to get anything done in but it aint hard to do you just got to do it. I came back home to shoot the video he shared the spotlight wit a ~@**? and made me feel good and gave me taste of what is soon to come and I appreciate him for that.
