Kenna and Nas Collaborate

Everyone knows about Kenna by now, right?
kenna1.jpg

He’s that post-modern feeling but still retro rocker with pop sensibilities but banging hip hop beats? He’s from Virgina by way of Ethiopia, and has long been associated with Chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes…he’s opened up a few shows for Timbo’s partner JT…as well as hottie Furtado…and he’s the subject of an entire chapter in Malcolm Gladwell’s book BLINK….anyway if all that doesn’t ring a bell yet, it will soon. Watch MTV2 on October 8 when Kenna’s first single “Say Goodbye To Love” begins to spin. This single and Kenna’s second album is much anticipated…(since his first album, New Sacred Cow became an underground classic…) but if you need something to hold you over til the jumpoff, here’s an  audio file  by Kenna featuring one of our favorite MCs, Nas. Thanks to our friend at the globalhustle for this one. Enjoy.

Move over Amy…Here Comes Something Cleaner

It was easy falling in love with Amy Winehouse - she’s soulful, groovy, British, dark and delicious. But another girl has caught our groove and is heading over from across the pond soon…flash to Estelle, newly signed with the now legendary artist John Legend and his label imprint “Homeschool Records.”

Estelle has roots in West Africa and the West Indies, a background in London and a global sound. Producers including Swizz Beatz, Kanye West, Ceelo, Will.I.Am and Mark Ronson have jumped on tracks for her second album entitled “Shine.” John L is in NYC, overseeing creative to Estelle’s latest video and will hopefully make a cameo in there to set her off right…judging from the tracks we just heard, this chick is poised to blow…heads up for the first single called “Wait A Minute (Just A Touch)”  in November, and the album to hit streets in February…

Biggie’s Last Moments caught on tape

04.jpg

Our buddies at Nah Right have posted a snippet from the upcoming film Notorious B.I.G: Bigger than Life which shows the last few moments of Biggie Smalls. The camcorder footage was shot by fans who had been at the party Big and Puff attended right before he was killed. The film, which is straight to DVD, contains some never before seen footage like this as well as interviews from people close to Big. Ironically, no interviews from Lil Kim, D-Roc or anyone from Junior Mafia. Perhaps it’s just too much to constantly relive your worst nightmare. Though the footage is not graphic, it is still disturbing. And so is the fact this case remains unsolved.
