Pimp C’s funeral took place today at the Robert A. Bowers Civic Center in Port Arthur, Texas. The Associated Press reported that Pimp’s UGK partner Bun B, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug, Willie D of The Geto Boys, and Rap-A-Lot Records head honcho James Prince, were all there with Pimp’s friends and family to say goodbye to the hip-hop legend. Others seen at the funeral, which was said to be attended by over two thousand people, were Mike Jones, Webbie, and singer Letoya Luckett. Miss Info’s got some pics. Outside the funeral, Chamillionaire said,
“Pimp was the Tupac of the South. Everybody’s that’s rapping today is imitating Pimp. It’s a very, very big loss for everybody in Houston. I have one of the biggest ringtones ever, called ‘Ridin’ Dirty.’ The concept of Ridin’ Dirty came from UGK (who released an album of the same name in 1996). That lets you know how much they influenced me. He was a living legend when he was here. His legacy is going to live forever. I don’t think anybody’s going to forget about Pimp C.”
The cause of death for the rapper is still not all the clear as of yet. Officials have said that he died in bed and that there were no signs of foul play, but what was the actual medical reason that caused him to die in bed? That’s what I want to know. We’ll have to wait for the autopsy.
