Stick a fork in Lupe’s rap career, it’s done. The rapper says his next album, LupEND, will conclude his stint as a recording artist. The budding thespian will then move on to do other things, among them write a book. “I have one more album in me and then I’m out,” he says. “I’ve been doing this music hustle for eights years and have more things I still want to do. There are other ways besides putting out an album that allow me to channel my creative energy and I’m writing a book about a window washer. I will have more than enough to keep me busy.”
I know the blogosphere is literally killing Lupe right now over these statements. I support his retirement aspirations though. The music biz is kinda whatever right now, and he’s always seemed pretty disillusioned with the whole process. So go head bro, if you are who you say you are, then have no fear.

how fast one can fall from the grace of the hip-hop backpackers….he was the poster child for the new wave of lyricists and left of center hip-hop. Now, he’s been bastardized and seen as a poser. Brand is everything in hip-hop and he couldn’t control his. good luck on his next endeavors.

^^^ its just that hip hop fans suck! Here comes an artist who actually puts the love, the detail and the lyricism in his music that most purist calim is missing from the game.
And instead of embrace him… what do they do, they pick him apart.
Cuz u know if it aint MF Doom it aint poppin- and they do’nt buy his albums either…

Wow, that does suck… he may not have been my favorite emcee, but Food and Liquor was certainly worth the purchase… it really is a pity that he’s gone…
What sucks even more, though, is the fact that the people who still make excellent albums get downloaded instead of supported as most hip-hop heads are a bunch of cheap-asses that only buy their favorite artists, if that. Peeps like Godfather Don need to get music videos on places like here (MTV) so they get more attention… they deserve it.
