If there’s one thing I’m happy about with the ‘08 primaries, it’s that I’m spared from hearing Diddy tell me to “Vote or Die.” Clearly, he was just exercising his flair for the dramatic four years ago.
Still, the ‘08 Presidential election is going to be one of the most important in the history of the United States. Today is Super Tuesday; there are primary elections going on in 24 states.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are both jousting for the nomination to represent the Democratic party in the upcoming Presidential election. Senator Clinton has already won single-state victories in New Hampshire and Nevada. Obama has won in Iowa and South Carolina.
The Republicans find John McCain, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, and Ron Paul going head to head, but McCain looks to be the favorite. Still, early signs indicate Romney may win California, which will keep him in the race.
MTV News has its political street team out in full force covering the primaries in each state. They’re blogging live from scene.
Meanwhile, hip-hop heads show little love to the Republicans, but they’re clearly divided on Hillary and Obama.
For Hillary= 50 Cent, Russell Simmons, Timbaland
For Obama= Common, Q-Tip, Usher, Master P, Will.I.Am, John Legend
If you care at all about the direction the U.S. is heading in, make sure you hit the polls, then tell us who you voted for and why.
