According to MTV News, TI has recorded about 50 songs for his new LP Back In Gear, which doesn’t have a release date yet because the rapper is still awaiting trial on gun possession charges.
Said Young Dro, “…He’s writing [rhymes on paper] now, so y’all in trouble.”
Whoah, god forbid a rapper actually write down some lyrics. I blame a lot of the sub par rap music out these days on the fact that rappers think it’s cool to not write anything down. Like that could ever really be a progressive process for them. I know everyone swagger-jacks Jay with that “I don’t write any rhymes on paper” thing, but I’m sorry, not everyone can pull it off.
TI also didn’t have much positive to say about the current state of hip-hop music. He said,
“It’s a lot of bullsh– out right now. I’m not gonna front. I feel it’s definitely about time for somebody to come back out and kick this thing back in gear. The rotation is suffering right now. I intend to do something about it. It’s just a matter of when.”
Something tells me it’s going to be quite some time. He’s on house arrest and all, and it seems like he has suffered a lot of fallout over that gun possession incident. We haven’t heard too many people on record bigging him up or anything like that. Maybe because he’s the King. Heavy lies the crown, no?
