Meet Rita G

Better late than never, first I want you all to watch the puzzling video for Kanye’s “Flashing Lights.”

Then with your umm…. other hand… I want you to click HERE and read MTV News’ interview with Playboy bunny Rita G.
Then I want you to go to my second home, XXLmag.com, and watch HOT97’s Peter Rosenberg talk with the latest video vixen to take hip-hop music videos to the next level by clicking HERE.

Ok children, what have we learned today? I’ll answer for you. Pete Rosenberg’s a lucky man. Kanye is still out of his mind. And Rita G’s damn near flawless.

Rakim Releasing Live Album On March 4th

Rakim, perhaps the best lyricist of all time, will be releasing a collection of his live performances entitle Live, Lost and Found on March 4th. The album, which is dropping on Koch Records, will include four previously unreleased tracks, including the new single “It’s Nothing,” and 17 Rakim favorites performed live in concert.

Not exactly The 7th Seal album we’ve been waiting for since forever. Plus if you’ve ever seen Ra live, you know it’s pretty underwhelming (I will hear no arguments on that). I can only hope just listening to live tracks will be a better experience.

Trina Talks “Single Again”

The Queen of Miami, Trina, stopped by the Times Square studio last week to chop it up with the Sucker Free Blog. The Diamond Princess recently released the video for “Single Again” (we brought it to you nearly two months ago!), the first single from her new album Still Da Baddest, dropping April 1st. When the song was initially released, many people speculated that it was meant to be a message of defiance towards her former thug love Lil Wayne. But when we asked her, she wouldn’t really confirm nor deny that, instead just saying that the track was inspired by things going on with her at the time, not necessarily Weezy. Check out part one of the interview.

WORLD PREMIERE: Jay-Z “I Know”

The video for “I Know” was directed by Philip Andelman and features Lenny Kravitz daughter, Zoe. The vid’s treatment describes it as “a surreal, daydream-like blending of four separate and unrelated stories, four unique trips taken on by four girls in one night in New York City.”

Mission accomplished or… ?

Hip-Hop’s Community Leaders Honored At 2008 HSAN Action Awards

The fifth annual Hip-Hop Summit Action Network Action Awards went down without a hitch last night (February 25th) at Capitale, in New York City. The award show honored hip-hop luminaries for their dedication and commitment to community empowerment. This year’s honorees were Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones, Ciara Harris, Doug E. Fresh, Chris Lighy, and Mellody Hobson. Also on hand were LL Cool J, Damon Dash, radio personality Egypt, Juelz Santana, Chrisette Michelle, producer Bryan Michael Cox, and even George Lucas. Asked on the red carpet before the event how he felt to be honored, Snoop Dogg said:

“I make music every day. But as far as the positive things that I do, I never have a camera with me when I’m doing that because I don’t want no attention for it. So for them to finally give me some love and to say that, ‘We appreciate what you do with the kids in the community,’ its very humbling. Because I always get cameras on me when I go to jail or when I do something negative. But when I do something right, they don’t know how to just surround me. And right now they’re surrounding me with love, so it feels good.”
