The above picture is Jamal “Gravy” Woolard, as Christopher Wallace AKA The Notorious BIG. According to a New York Times article entitled “Film Skirts Loose Ends In The Death Of Rapper,” the film about Biggie’s life, Notorious, begins shooting next week in Brooklyn, and will steer clear of pointing the finger at anyone for Biggie’s murder. The article says,

“Mr. Wallace’s mother, Voletta Wallace, who is a producer of the film — along with his former associates Wayne Barrow, Mark Pitts, Sean Combs and others, who have various producing credits — said the project would deliberately steer clear of the controversy. ‘That’s going to be another movie,’ Ms. Wallace said.”

I can understand the legal reasons why the studio is opting to not address the murder, because doing such would put them at the mercy of a potential libel suit. But still, Biggie’s murder is still a huge unsolved case. I don’t think it would hurt for the film to tip the cards a bit.
